Every year, on the last Saturday of April, the world comes together to celebrate World Veterinary Day, a special occasion dedicated to recognizing the invaluable contributions of veterinarians in animal health, livestock development, and public well-being. In 2025, this prestigious day falls on April 26, and the AgroVet Research & Development Foundation (ARDF), in collaboration with Pashudhan Praharee, Livestock Institute of Training & Development (LITD), CM Singh Endowment Trust, and Goel Vet Pharma, has instituted the World Veterinary Day 2025 Awards to honor excellence in the field of veterinary sciences and animal husbandry.

Honoring Veterinary Excellence Through Prestigious Awards

To mark this grand occasion, ARDF and its affiliate organizations have launched a series of prestigious awards and medals to recognize the exemplary contributions of veterinary professionals across India. The awards aim to appreciate and encourage the relentless efforts of veterinarians in animal health management, livestock research, and veterinary education.

Participation through All India Article Writing Competition

As part of the award selection process, Pashudhan Praharee is conducting an All India Article Writing Competition on various topics related to AgroVet, Veterinary Sciences, and Animal Husbandry. The winning entries will be reviewed by an esteemed panel of jury members, including some of the most distinguished veterinary scientists and experts.

Apart from the article competition, self-nomination-based awards will also be presented to individuals and organizations that have made exceptional contributions to veterinary sciences and allied fields. The National Awards Committee, comprising renowned veterinary scientists and twenty-six eminent personalities, will oversee the selection process to ensure transparency and merit-based recognition.

World Veterinary Day 2025 Theme: “Animal Health Takes a Team”

Each year, the World Veterinary Association (WVA) selects a theme that reflects the evolving challenges and opportunities within the veterinary profession. The theme for World Veterinary Day 2025 is “Animal Health Takes a Team.”

This theme highlights the collaborative effort required for optimal animal healthcare, involving veterinarians, veterinary nurses, technicians, researchers, and allied professionals. As WVA President Dr. John de Jong aptly stated, “It takes a team approach to provide optimal animal care and animal health around the world.”

    Why These Awards Matter?

    • Recognizing Excellence: The awards serve as a benchmark to acknowledge the outstanding work done by veterinarians and organizations in research, education, animal health, and welfare.
    • Encouraging Innovation: By rewarding professionals who contribute to the advancement of veterinary sciences, the awards foster innovation and knowledge-sharing.
    • Boosting Professional Morale: Honoring veterinarians for their dedicated service motivates them to continue their invaluable work for animal health and public safety.
    • Public Awareness & Education: Through these awards, ARDF and its partners aim to enhance public awareness about the veterinary profession and its role in ensuring food security, animal welfare, and public health.

    How to Participate?
